The world's most popular museums have been named: the Louvre still has no competition.

The Louvre in Paris will retain its status as the most visited museum in the world in 2025, according to research by The Art Newspaper.

Last year, the Louvre was visited by more than 9 million people.

The Vatican Museums and the National Museum of Korea follow.

The top ten are as follows:

Louvre (9,046,000 visitors);

Vatican Museums (6,933,822 visitors);

National Museum of Korea (6,507,483 visitors);

British Museum (6,440,120 visitors);

Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (5,984,091 visitors);

State Russian Museum (5,087,276 visitors);

National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City (5,048,893 visitors);

Shanghai Museum (4,593,216 visitors);

Tate Modern in London (4,514,266 visitors);

National Gallery London (4,147,544 visitors).

The study shows that many museums in Europe and the US have not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. However, a number of museums in Asia and Latin America are showing growth in attendance.

In the UK, some museums are still losing audiences, but regional and university venues are showing growth.

In Asia, the increase in interest is due to the development of museum infrastructure and a growing interest in regional culture. In the US, attendance remains stable, but is influenced by external factors.

Experts note the strengthening of Latin American museums, where growth is driven by the expansion of venues and the hosting of major exhibitions.
