New York once again leads the ranking of the world's financial capitals.

New York retained its top spot among the world's leading financial centers, according to the latest edition of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) compiled by Z/Yen Group Ltd., Interfax reports.

In the 35th edition of the index, New York received a score of 763, ahead of London (750), Hong Kong (749), and Singapore (747).

The ranking, based on a survey of nearly 8,500 respondents, shows that New York has maintained its position since the fall of 2018. However, compared to the previous version of the ranking, published in March of this year, New York lost one point, while London gained three.

There were changes in the top 10 rankings: Chicago moved up to sixth place, overtaking San Francisco, and Los Angeles took seventh place, overtaking Shanghai. Seoul and Geneva dropped out of the top 10, giving way to Shenzhen and Frankfurt. Significant growth was seen in Dublin (moving up to 14th place from 25th), Lugano (up 9 spots to 26th), Bermuda (up 27 spots), Doha (24 spots), and Riyadh (21 spots). Meanwhile, Sydney fell 10 spots, while Rome and Stockholm lost 22 and 16 spots, respectively.

Astana leads the rankings among financial centers in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, ranking 62nd.
