Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov proposed creating a unified visa regime for foreign tourists visiting Central Asian countries.
The initiative was presented at a meeting of the region's heads of state and Azerbaijan in Cholpon-Ata and has already received support from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The unified tourist visa is expected to simplify travel within the region and make the Silk Road sites and natural attractions more accessible.
In addition to developing tourism, the countries confirmed their intention to continue cooperation in transport and energy. Key projects include the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which is expected to shorten freight routes from China to Europe and the Middle East.
Another joint project remains the construction of the Kambarata Hydroelectric Power Plant-1, which Kyrgyzstan is implementing jointly with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The parties also confirmed agreements on mutual electricity supplies to improve the resilience of energy systems.
The next stage of discussions on regional initiatives is scheduled for October 8, 2026, in Avaza.
