Kazakhstan is discussing the introduction of paid entry permits for foreigners.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan has prepared draft amendments introducing paid electronic entry permits for foreign citizens and stateless persons.
The document has been submitted for public discussion, which will last until August 17.
The fee for issuing the permits has not yet been determined. It is expected that the funds will be used to maintain and modernize digital infrastructure, as well as to ensure the protection of personal data.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes implementing the new system in stages, from August to December 2026. According to the ministry, this approach will ensure "the stable adaptation of logistics capacities and border infrastructure to all types of checkpoints."
Electronic permits are also expected to help make the registration and monitoring of migrants within Kazakhstan more rapid and transparent.
It is important to note that the amendments have not yet been adopted and are currently undergoing public discussion.
