India has lifted the limit on the number of entries for 30-day e-tourist visas. Holders of this type of visa can now cross the border an unlimited number of times during its validity.
According to VisasNews, this change came into effect on June 12, 2026. Approved applications now carry the "Multiple Entries" label. The maximum continuous stay in the country remains the same—30 days.
This change simplifies travel for tourists who combine their visit to India with trips to Nepal, Bhutan, or Sri Lanka.
This is the second recent easing of visa regulations. In December, authorities extended the initial entry period for e-visas from 30 to 120 days after approval.
In addition, India has increased the duty-free import limits for goods. For tourists on a tourist visa, the limit has been increased from 15,000 to 25,000 rupees (approximately from $175 to $290). For holders of other visa types, the limit has increased from 50,000 to 75,000 rupees (approximately from $580 to $870).
Duty-free import limits for gold and platinum jewelry have also been approved: up to 40 grams for women and up to 20 grams for men. One laptop and pets can still be imported duty-free.
