'Desert Dream': Saudi Arabia Launches Region's First Ultra-Luxury Train
In December 2026, the Dream of the Desert, the Middle East's first ultra-luxury train designed for tourist travel within the country, is scheduled to launch in Saudi Arabia.
The project is being implemented by the Italian company Arsenale in partnership with Saudi Arabia Railways, the national carrier, with the support of the kingdom's tourism and cultural authorities. The design was developed by architect Aline Asmar d'Amman, who combined traditional Saudi motifs with European elements.
The train will consist of 14 carriages and 33 cabins, accommodating a maximum of 66 passengers. Routes include both day trips and multi-day journeys through various regions of the country, including Al-Juf and historic Juba.
Passengers are promised restaurants with signature menus, a cultural program, 24-hour service, and personalized service.
Accommodations start at approximately $8,000 per night for a double cabin. Whole carriage rentals will also be available.
