President Serdar Berdimuhamedow held an off-site meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, where priorities for the country’s socio-economic development and plans for hosting major international forums in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” were outlined. This was reported by the online publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
As Turkmenistan holds the CIS chairmanship in 2026, special attention is being given to strengthening cooperation within the Commonwealth. Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov reported on preparations for key meetings: the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan is scheduled for October 8, while the regular CIS Council of Heads of State meeting will take place on October 9. Ministerial meetings will be held ahead of the summits to finalize the agendas.
In October, “Avaza” will become a center for global initiatives under the auspices of the UN. The program includes an International Women’s Dialogue on the role of women in peace and sustainable development, a demographic conference analyzing global experience, and a seminar of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly on access to healthcare.
Environmental issues have also been prioritized: on October 7, Caspian ministers will discuss the ecology of the Caspian Sea. A high-level meeting on water security with the participation of Afghanistan is also planned, focusing on the preservation of Central Asia’s water resources.
All these events are intended to reaffirm Turkmenistan’s peaceful policy, its commitment to good-neighborly relations, and its active role in addressing global challenges.
