The New York Times has published a list of 52 places worth visiting in 2026.
The publication ranked "Revolutionary America" first. The editors recommend traveling to the United States for the country's 250th anniversary to see parades and exhibitions, attend a match of the upcoming World Cup, and a concert in Washington on July 4th.
Warsaw took second place. The Polish capital was highlighted by its new Museum of Modern Art, housed in the Stalinist-era House of Culture, and the avant-garde TR Warszawa Theater.
"For decades, the Polish capital was considered more pragmatic than captivating. In 2026, it needs to be seen anew," insists NYT writer A.J. Goldman.
Bangkok ranks third. There are few green spaces, but there is the Dib Bangkok contemporary art center and the recently restored Wat Chaiwatthanaram Buddhist temple complex, which is once again open to visitors after 12 years of restoration.
The list also includes the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica, the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in India, the city of Dallas – one of the host cities of the upcoming World Cup – the port city of Oran in Algeria, and the famous Route 66, which has connected Chicago and Santa Monica, California, for 100 years.
Drive the Sidewinder, a 191-turn highway near Oatman, Arizona, where the Black Mountains meet the desert. Explore outsider art, such as the Blue Whale in Catoosa, Oklahoma, where a new visitor center will open in April. "Stay at the renovated El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, New York, where Katharine Hepburn and Gregory Peck stayed," recommends the NYT.
Other travel ideas include the Caribbean island of Saba, the Poblenou district of Barcelona, the mountains of Nepal, the Bayreuth Opera Festival, a train ride through the Canadian Rockies, Australia's Top End, and Penang, Malaysia.
The list also includes Nagasaki, Japan, the mountain resort of Breuil-Cervinia in the Italian Alps, Cape Froward in Chile, the Seychelles, the Trena Islands in Norway, Melbourne in Australia, Armenia, Iceland, and Vietnam.
