China's Deep Blue Aerospace has sold tickets for a space trip for $140,000.
The Chinese company Deep Blue Aerospace announced the sale of the first tickets for a space flight planned for 2027, CNN reports.
The ticket price was 1 million yuan (approximately $140,000), and all the tickets were immediately sold out during an online broadcast that attracted millions of viewers. The company did not disclose the names of the buyers.
The flight will take passengers to an altitude of 100 to 150 kilometers, where they will experience weightlessness for approximately 12 minutes. Before sending the first tourists, the company plans to conduct a series of tests in the coming years, scheduled for 2025–2026.
The project involves the use of the reusable Nebula-1 rocket, but its testing has not yet been completed. Last month, the rocket suffered a final-stage failure, exploding upon landing. Deep Blue Aerospace is in active competition with other Chinese companies, including CAS Space, which has also announced plans to conduct tourist flights in 2027.
